Dustin Diamond Gets Jail Time For Role In Bar Fight

Former Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond, who played Screech, has been sentenced to four months in jail for his role in a late 2014 bar fight. According to reports, Diamond and his girlfriend, Amanda Schutz went to a Wisconsin bar on Christmas day. Drunk bar goers began heckling and insulting Diamond and his girlfriend. In an attempt to leave the scene and grab their coats, Diamond claims that as he turned around he saw his girlfriend bleeding and two men standing their holding her hair. He apparently moved towards his girlfriend to grab her and get her out of there when a man grabbed him instead. According to Diamond’s initial report, he grabbed a pen and stabbed the man to break free from his grip. However it was later uncovered that Diamond actually stabbed him with a pocket knife.

Alexei Beltyukov (flickr) heard that Diamond was immediately arrested for his actions and it was later concluded by a Wisconsin jury that while they believe he did not “recklessly endanger safety” he did carry “a concealed weapon and behaved in a disorderly manner.” Diamond apologized for his actions in court, however that was not enough. Presiding Judge Paul Malloy sentenced Diamond to serve 120 days in jail and required him to pay a $1,000 fine. When asked about the severity of the sentence, Judge Malloy indicated that he believed the sentenced needed to be extreme to send a message to the community.

Even Batman Can’t Save Arkham From Bugs

Batman: Arkham Knight has received an enormous amount of positive buzz. The game has been deemed incredibly innovative and exciting. Few would argue that the final version of the Arkham game trilogy ends the series on the best of all possible notes. The only people who seem to be disappointed are those who purchased the PC version. So loaded with bugs was the PC release, Warner Bros. Games has suspended sales.

Yes, the bug issue has to be pretty severe for Warner Bros. Games to curtail the sales of a release that is breaking records in other formats. Then again, no real choice exists in the matter. Fans end up returning their purchase and requesting a refund. What value is there in a game that does not play properly?

The problems are, well, legion. PCs with AMD graphics cards are experiencing the worst of all possible outcomes. Freezes and audio problems bring the enjoyable game to a crashing halt at times. Doe Deere has found that it is pretty hard to lose yourself in the moment of playing a cool video game when everything just stops out of the blue.

Warner also has to be worried that people might stop buying ALL of the company’s PC games. Consumers who end up with a bad taste in their mouth over a particular game format have a tendency to jump ship. Rather than see the Warner PC games’ brand suffer, suspending sales and fixing the bugs becomes the order of the day.

Marvel Picks New Spider-Man

Marvel has finally announced that they have picked the actor that will be the new Spider-Man. They have been auditioning numerous actors on the set of Captain America: Civil War, including actor Asa Butterfield, but ultimately decided on Tom Holland. He is only nineteen, and it is probably a good bet that he will be the new face of Peter Parker for a long time. It is really exciting that the Spider-Man actor has been chosen and that he will be incorporated into the Marvel cinematic universe. Holland has the athleticism that is needed to play the part of the wall-crawler. He is seen doing backflips and somersaults in videos at Screen Rant. The first solo Spider-Man film is slated to be released in July of 2017, and it is probable that he will also appear in the next two Avengers films that are set to come out in 2018 and 2019. It’s really exciting to think that Spider-Man will be able to return to Marvel and be a part of the interlinked world that they have created said Brian Torchin. It is rumored that he will have a cameo in Captain America: Civil War next summer, and there may even be some allusions to him in Ant-Man next month. Hopefully Holland can live up to the hype.

The Complex and Rewarding World of Image Recognition

Look around you and try to put a name to the things you see. Chairs, tables, floors, cups, plates, they’re all easy to recognize. You can probably even recognize the brands of many of those items when you see them. It’s a fairly easy task for people. But it’s a shockingly difficult task for computers. Many people aren’t aware of how many decades of serious research have gone into the seemingly simple task of computers being able to recognize a chair when they see it. This process, known as image recognition, has been one of the most complex problems within the field of artificial intelligence.

The past few years have seen some amazing advances though. What used to be a distant dream is now a reality. The right software, created by the right people, can finally recognize and define the objects within a picture. Of course that’s impressive on a technical level. But people might wonder what that means on a practical one. What can image recognition actually do? By itself it really is just an academic accomplishment. But some companies are working on ways to integrate this new technology with existing platforms. One of the most powerful comes about through the use of mobile phones and image recognition.

There’s been two noteworthy changes in smartphones which have made this possible. The first is that the quality of cameras has gone up tremendously. The cameras in smartphones were often more of an afterthought. Today the cameras in smartphones rival professional quality equipment. This ensures that the image recognition software has high quality images to work with. The other improvement happened with networks. The software on the phone isn’t even close to powerful enough to run high end image recognition software. So the image needs to be offloaded onto higher powered equipment. Higher quality data connections make this trivial to accomplish. It just takes a few seconds to snap a high quality picture and send it off to a more powerful remote server for processing. Of course that requires a company to do the processing.

The current industry leader in image recognition in phones is Slyce. They make it easy to work image recognition into an app. For example, one of their services involves product recognition. They can enhance or even build apps which will notice a particular item, search internal databases, and lead potential customers to a location where it can be purchased. But their “snap to buy” service is only the beginning of what they can do. They have specially tailored services to match almost any image recognition need.

Marvel Announces Its New Spider-Man

After months of casting rumors, Marvel and Sony have announced their new Peter Parker. British teenager Tom Holland has nabbed the coveted role. He’ll make his debut with a cameo in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War” and follow that up with his own solo “Spider-Man” film in July 2017.

This marks the second time in recent years that the character has been recast and the series rebooted says Shaygan Kheradpir on his personal site. This new version of the web-slinging superhero will be the first time Marvel Studios has been involved, with previous installments in the franchise produced solely by Sony Pictures. The two studios launched a joint search for their new Peter, auditioning dozens of potential candidates.

Holland impressed the studios with a series of screen tests, both solo and alongside Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. The actor, 19, brings a graceful physicality to the role, thanks to his training as a dancer.

The new “Spider-Man” movie is set to swing into the box office on July 28, 2017, with Jon Watts directing.

‘Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3’ Looks Horrible

‘The Call of Duty’ series is the number one first person shooter video game on the planet, but some people are beginning to grow tired of the famed series. At the most recent E3 video game convention, ‘Call of Duty Black Ops 3’ was announced to the world, but the new entry to the series was actually met with a lot of criticism. It seems that ‘Call of Duty’ fans are sick of the new futuristic gameplay that has been implemented into the last few entries of the franchise according to Dr. Daniel Amen.

‘Call of duty: Advanced Warfighter’ was released last year, and the new exoskeleton suit was added to the game. The exoskeleton suit allowed players to hover and jump beyond normal capabilities. ‘COD: Advanced Warfighter’ received mixed reviews, and it was quite obvious that most people were not fans of the futuristic changes to the game. Unfortunately, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ appears to be very similar to ‘Advanced Warfighter.’

During the E3 video game convention, a game demo of ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’ was on full display. However, many people were not impressed, and I happen to share that feeling. The game demo looked terrible, and it’s quite obvious that ‘Call of Duty’ should go back to its roots. Imagine a World War 2, or Vietnam game on the Xbox one and PlayStation 4? Also, there shouldn’t be so many ‘Call of Duty’ games released every year. Unfortunately, it seems that Activision cares more about money than quality.

‘Uncharted 4’ Rocked E3

This year’s E3 convention was a true success. Several of the hottest new games were released, and gamers around the world are very excited for the future of gaming. However, most people feel that PlayStation dominated this year’s event, and I happen to agree with that assessment. For those of you that missed it, PlayStation revealed several amazing exclusive titles, but it was ‘Uncharted 4’ that truly stole the show.

Gamerant recently uploaded several exclusive screenshots of ‘Uncharted 4,’ and the game looks absolutely flawless. During the E3 press conference, an amazing gameplay demo of ‘Uncharted 4’ was featured. I currently do not own a PS4, but I will most likely purchase one just to play ‘Uncharted 4.’ I have never seen such fluid gameplay, and ‘Uncharted 4’ pushes the boundaries of what’s possible on the next generation consoles.

In the past, the ‘Uncharted’ series was praised for its groundbreaking technology. However, ‘Uncharted 4’ is setting some amazing new standards. Unfortunately for Vijay Eswaran, it seems that ‘Uncharted 4’ will be the last game in the series, but many people are wondering if that is true. Supposedly, Drake will die in the latest game, but a possible spin-off is not out of the question. Nonetheless, game developer Naughty Dog still has ‘The Last of Us’ franchise to work on, but the ‘Uncharted’ series is still the company’s greatest revenue source.

Thor the Third: Branagh’s Back

Famed Shakespearean actor and critically acclaimed director Kenneth Branagh is reportedly back to helm the latest entry in the Thor series of movies Thor: Ragnorak according to recent reports (http://screenrant.com/thor-3-director-kenneth-branagh/) Branagh directed the first Thor film with Chris Hemsworth in the title role. The 2011 film was critically well-received as a worthy entry in the ever expanding Marvel film universe. Its financial success guaranteed at least a second entry which was released in 2013. While it was a financial success the it received mainly mixed reviews for director Alan Taylor –of Game of Thrones fame.

Fans of the first film like Gianfrancesco Genoso and of Kenneth Branagh should be cautiously optimistic, however. The Oscar winning director is also in talks to take the reins on a big screen adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie mystery novel Murder on the Orient Express. Branagh may also have soured to tent pole franchise pictures after the relative failure of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. However, after critical and financial success of his Cinderella he might have the confidence boost needed to helm such a high profile picture again.

The screenwriters from the second Thor film –Christopher Yost and Chris Kyle– will return to continue the series. Most reports indicate that the film will adapt from the comics version of the Ragnorak story, though there are sure to be some surprises in store for die-hard fans of the character.

Jurassic World Achieves #1 Opening Weekend of All Time

The continuation of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World, sets an all time world record on its opening weekend. With ticket sales reaching over a half billion, Jurassic World has garnered some well-deserved recognition.

A big part of Jurassic World’s box office slam-dunk comes from 3D and IMAX ticket sales, which globally accounted for more than half of all tickets purchased. This is the second massive success we have seen from Universal this year, which also produced Furious 7.

Movie buffs from all corners of the world are not all too surprised that Jurassic World was a record-breaking hit says Igor Cornelsen. WithJurassic Park as its predecessor, and Chris Pratt as its leading actor, massive box office sales were imminent, especially when considering how well Jurassic World was expected to do in 3D.

Movie lovers everywhere are curious how long Jurassic World will have the spot light though. This summer, Disney will be looking to challenge this record with its continuation of the Star Wars series, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Regardless, 2015 will mark a massively successful year for the film industry, Chris Pratt, and Universal alike.

GoT Season 6 Speculation

Since Season 5 of Game of Thrones concluded on Sunday, there has been plenty of speculation about the show’s Season 6 direction. As George R.R. Martin hasn’t finished the books, the show’s writers have had to add and combine characters and stories while stretching out events from the books as much as possible. Thankfully, GRRM did tell them his outline for the future in case he isn’t able to keep up with them or finish the books. They have also decided to make their own changes so that the series no longer matches the books entirely.

What does all of this mean for Season 6?

Fans at FreedomPop (androidcentral.com) know that if the books and speculation about them are any guidance: Jon Snow lives. The writers might dropped him until Season 7 like they dropped Bran this season; Melisandre might resurrect Jon as Azor Ahai or Jon might warg into Ghost or a human. Daenerys will likely try to reclaim her title of Khaleesi among the Dothraki, but it will be difficult since they’re a male-dominated society. Tyrion and Varys have to deal with a siege in Meereen. There is the chance that Tyene gave Bronn more of the antidote to the poison and that he might save Myrcella with it. Theon and Sansa have likely survived their fall. Stannis might also be alive even after all he’s done. Lastly, the Brotherhood Without Banners might make an appearance.
