Goettl Air Conditioning was first established in 1939 to bring relief from the heat for Phoenix, Arizona residents. It has had a number of owners over the years, some better than others. Ken Goodrich is an expert at turning companies around. He has achieved this successfully 15 times during his career, but after buying Goettl he was in for his toughest challenge yet. The company that he bought Goettl from was an out of state firm that had owned it for five years. As they were basically absentee owners, Goettl’s reputation had seriously suffered due to no investment in the business, a lack of profits, and a staff with very low morale.
In addition to all of these problems, the former owners of the company had been cited for questionable business practices a number of times by the state’s attorney general. While he was able to settle the legal side, the reputation of the brand was in the dumps. Ken Goodrich achieved his 16th turnaround by focusing on rebuilding morale, emphasizing that the customer always comes first, and instituting ethical business practices. The Goettl brand has recovered from its dark period due to his efforts and is now a leading brand in the American Southwest.
In addition to air conditioning, Goettl also supplies and services heating equipment and small HVAC systems. They also have experience cleaning duct work which removes harmful contaminants. Additionally, Ken Goodrich bought a plumbing company, Sunny Plumbers, which compliments Goettl’s activities and provides seasonal balance to the firm.
Goettl Air Conditioning is now also heavily involved in the community. They have recently done things such as install free heating and air conditioning equipment in some people’s homes who are either elderly or very poor. Goettl is now committed to making a positive difference in the lives of their customers and the broader community.
